From a global perspective, cricket is the second largest sport in the world!  Cricket World Cup's, which are held every 4 years, like its football counterpart attract bllions of television viewers worldwide - partricularly in countries India, Pakistan, Great Britain, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and the USA.

Cricket is a sport that can be played by men and women, boys and girls, tall and short, young and old, and is played in various formats - matches can last for up to 5 days (Test Cricket), 7 hours (One-day Cricket) or 3 hours (Twenty-20 Cricket).  It is a summer sport that is played in warm and dry conditions.

Due to the usually hot weather conditions and duration of matches, an important element of the sport is the social aspect - and many an hour is spent in the pavillion after the days' play discussing the highlights, great catches, glorious shots, humorous moments and controversies of the day over a cool drink.
